We’re Expansive Solutions (Expansive to our friends), a growing UK PropTech SaaS business dedicated to making the lives of facility managers easier. Adoption of tech within FM is booming, and our reputation for great service and product has secured us a solid global presence including several household-name clients. Demand for Expansive FM is growing and our product engineering team is continually evolving to meet the challenge.  

We’re now looking for a Product Engineer to join our team. This role will support our client-facing efforts while delivering technical excellence within our engineering pods. You’ll work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders across the whole SDLC from prototyping, through PoC, MVP and into maintenance.  

Things you can expect to be doing when you join us  

This role is all about bringing technical skill, curiosity, and empathy to the table. You’ll be someone who takes pride in solving real customer problems through great code. Day-to-day you will:  

  • Collaborate with clients, engineers, product managers and client-facing teams to understand customer needs and translate them into features.  
  • Contribute to the delivery of customer-first apps on our mobile-first enterprise B2B platform.  
  • Help design and implement solutions with beautiful UIs, powerful APIs and useful AI Agents.  
  • Deliver high-quality, maintainable code with a focus on Laravel and Vue.js (plus exposure to our wider stack: Python, MySQL).  
  • Support Agile ceremonies, participating actively in planning, estimation, and retrospectives.  
  • Debug and resolve technical issues, ensuring smooth customer experience.  
  • Provide peer reviews, ensuring shared technical excellence across the team.  
  • Stay curious and open to learning, confidently experimenting with new technologies.  
  • Communicate clearly in a remote-first team, collaborating effectively across locations and time zones.  

We’re keen to hear from people who  

  • Care deeply about customers and want to support client-facing teams in solving their challenges.  
  • Are motivated engineers who thrive in collaborative, product-led environments.  
  • Have hands-on experience with Laravel and modern AI-led development practices.  
  • Are curious about AI systems (including AI Agents) and MCP server implementations.  
  • Have exposure to domain-driven design and an interest in applying it.  
  • Are comfortable working with SQL databases and frontend development (we use Vue.js).  
  • Can balance learning through failing vs building for long-term maintainability.  
  • Communicate well in a remote-first setting, and enjoy being part of a supportive, distributed team.  
  • Understand working in a SOC II, ISO27001-accredited environment.  
  • Have experience with CI/CD tooling and practices.  

Where you'll be working 

This is a UK remote-first role. Success here means being an active, collaborative member of a distributed team — not just delivering code but staying connected, visible, and supportive across Slack, video calls, and asynchronous updates. We encourage collaborative face-to-face sessions throughout the year, and you can expect to travel to meet the team every 6 weeks (twice a quarter). Travel costs will be covered by the company.

The process you'll be committing to 

For those applications that look a great fit, we'll want to talk to you (on Zoom):  

Stage 1: An informal chat with our CTO. Add a bit more colour to that CV, talk about SaaS and how the products you’ve worked on have solved problems [15 mins]  

Stage 2: Technical interview. We don’t do graded technical tests, we talk to you about technical problems and want to understand how you would approach them. You’ll meet members from the product engineering team [75 mins]  

Stage 3: Leadership Interview. The final stage. Meet the senior leadership team. The focus here is on cultural fit. We use this time to answer: Are you right for Expansive and, equally importantly, is Expansive right for you? [75 mins]
