We are hiring one of our founding engineers— this is a unique opportunity to shape Bondio’s technology and future. You will play a key role in building and scaling our platform from the ground up, with direct influence on architectural decisions, product direction, and company culture.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain server-side APIs, data models, and business logic that power Bondio’s platform.
• Integrate telecom systems onto the Bondio platform, ensuring seamless interaction with external partner infrastructure.
• Evaluate and integrate REST APIs from telecom partners to determine compatibility and meet business requirements.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to gather requirements and deliver backend-focused solutions, including technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Resolve customer and partner technical queries as they relate to the backend platform, providing timely and effective solutions.
• Participate in on-call support duties as required, ensuring critical backend issues are addressed quickly.
• Improve the platform’s technical architecture to enhance scalability, performance, and robustness.
• Ensure high code quality, maintain a clean, well-documented backend codebase, and follow best practices.
• Build reusable and modular backend components and libraries to support scalability and maintainability.
• Perform thorough testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Stay up to date with emerging backend development trends, frameworks, and cloud best practices; recommend improvements accordingly.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure high standards.
• Effectively communicate project progress, challenges, and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of our backend development processes and tools.

Requirements

You’re the engineer we’re looking for if you have:

• Minimum 7 years of professional experience as a backend software engineer, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality, scalable backend systems.
• Deep expertise in backend technologies: Node.js, TypeScript, MySQL, RESTful API design and implementation, cloud infrastructure (AWS).
• Strong ability to design, code, test, and maintain backend applications with a focus on high availability, scalability, and performance.
• Experience with integrating external APIs and systems into complex backend architectures.
• Comfort working with tight deadlines and delivering impactful projects efficiently.
• Excellent communication skills — both verbal and written — to convey complex backend designs and decisions.
• A collaborative mindset and experience working in cross-functional, remote-friendly teams.
• A passion for solving backend and systems-related problems and the ability to debug complex production issues.
• A business-focused approach to backend development — always keeping reliability, customer needs, and project goals in mind.

• Competitive Salary: £80,000 to £90,000 annual salary.
