Title: AWS Cloud SME
Location: New Castle, AU (Remote)
Permanent Role.
Position Overview
• Senior technical expert specializing in AWS cloud infrastructure and services.
• Responsible for architecture, migration, optimization, and governance of enterprise workloads on AWS.
• Acts as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, ensuring secure, scalable, and cost‑efficient cloud solutions.
• Provides leadership in cloud adoption, automation, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Architecture & Design
• Design and implement AWS cloud solutions (compute, storage, networking, security).
• Define cloud architecture standards, patterns, and best practices.
• Develop hybrid/multi‑cloud strategies integrating AWS with on‑premises and other cloud platforms.
• Conduct architecture reviews and provide recommendations for scalability, resilience, and performance.
Cloud Migration & Deployment
• Lead migration of applications, databases, and workloads to AWS.
• Utilize AWS migration tools (AWS Migration Hub, DMS, Server Migration Service).
• Ensure minimal downtime and data integrity during migrations.
• Automate deployments using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
Operations & Optimization
• Monitor AWS environments using CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and third‑party tools.
• Implement cost optimization strategies (rightsizing, reserved instances, savings plans).
• Manage patching, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Ensure compliance with RPO/RTO objectives and business continuity plans.
Security & Governance
• Define and enforce IAM policies, roles, and permissions.
• Implement security best practices (encryption, key management, VPC security, WAF).
• Conduct regular audits for compliance (ISO, SOC, GDPR).
• Establish governance frameworks for cloud usage and resource provisioning.
Performance & Reliability
• Optimize workloads for high availability and fault tolerance.
• Implement auto‑scaling, load balancing, and caching strategies.
• Conduct performance tuning for applications and databases hosted on AWS.
• Ensure SLA adherence and proactive issue resolution.
Leadership & Collaboration
• Act as SME for AWS in cross‑functional projects.
• Mentor and guide technical teams on AWS best practices.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, vendors, and customers to align cloud solutions with business goals.
• Provide final escalation support for complex AWS issues.
Qualifications & Skills
• 8–12 years of IT infrastructure/cloud experience, with at least 5+ years in AWS.
• Strong expertise in AWS services: EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation, CloudWatch.
• Hands‑on experience with automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins).
• Knowledge of containerization (EKS, ECS, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and stakeholder communication skills.
• AWS certifications (Solutions Architect Professional, Security Specialty, DevOps Engineer) preferred.
