Application Analyst

We’re recruiting for an experienced Application Analyst to join a growing hosting services team supporting critical software used within the UK public sector.

This Application Analyst position is ideal for someone with strong application support experience in Microsoft Windows environments who enjoys troubleshooting complex issues, improving service delivery, and working closely with customers.

The Role

As an Application Analyst, you will support hosted applications used by local government customers, ensuring reliable performance, fast incident resolution, and excellent customer experience. You’ll work closely with service desk, infrastructure, and delivery teams to maintain high availability and continuously improve hosted services.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise supporting client-server and web applications in Windows Server environments
• Manage and resolve incidents, ensuring clear communication and timely updates to customers
• Support onboarding of new customers onto hosted platforms alongside delivery teams
• Maintain system build standards and platform stability
• Work with service desk teams to support hosted applications and services
• Develop automation and scripts to improve operational efficiency
• Ensure adherence to security and information governance standards

Key Skills & Experience

• 3+ years’ experience in application support for client-server or web-based systems
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server environments
• Experience with SQL Server or Oracle databases
• Scripting experience (SQL, PowerShell, Python or VBS)
• Understanding of virtualised infrastructure (VMware)
• Familiarity with ITIL environments (incident, problem and change management)
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls)
