Wright State University has been honored as the 2024 Customer Service Business of the Year by the Dayton Business Journal, emphasizing its dedication to putting students first in all endeavors.

The Customer Service Business of the Year Award from the Dayton Business Journal underscores Wright State’s commitment to putting students first in everything the university does.

At the 2024 Business of the Year Awards ceremony held in November, Wright State was recognized alongside nine other recipients. President Sue Edwards expressed pride in this accolade, stating, "This is a testament to the tremendous effort the Wright State team puts forth to ensure our students are successful inside and outside the classroom."

Commitment to Student-Centric Services

According to the Dayton Business Journal, customer service is a core value at Wright State. The university aims to be the most student-centric institution in Ohio, ensuring that every decision prioritizes the student experience. Greg Sample, executive vice president and COO, highlighted the importance of viewing students as customers, emphasizing that their choices drive the university's focus on exceptional service.

To enhance the student experience, Wright State has implemented various training programs, including the Exceptional Service Training program, aimed at improving interactions with students and fostering a culture of excellence.

Positive Outcomes from Innovative Approaches

These initiatives have contributed to significant improvements in student enrollment and retention, with a 7.12% increase in total student headcount from the previous fall. The retention rate also saw an uptick of over 5% compared to 2023.

Wright State is also committed to supporting students' mental health through various initiatives, including hiring additional staff for Counseling and Wellness Services.

Wright State’s innovative approaches to student enhancement and their overall experience have led to increases in student enrollment and retention.

The university’s First-Year Seminar focuses on improving student success outcomes and creating a quality learning environment. In January, Wright State hosted a symposium to help employees understand how different departments can effectively support students.
