The Scale of the Outage and Response
After Thursday’s storm, NES deployed a massive team to tackle the damage:
- More than 600 lineworkers and 549 vegetation management team members were on the ground.
- Crews identified 30 broken poles and 106 downed lines across the service area.
- NES also staffed 120 customer relations representatives in its call centers to assist customers with outages and inquiries.
Initially, about 46,000 customers were left without power after the storms brought damaging winds. As of the latest update, only about 250 customers remain without service.
Challenges in Restoration
NES has stated that customers who still have an outage this morning should see restoration completed by this evening. The remaining outages are often the toughest to fix because they involve complex, time and labor-intensive work, such as repairing isolated or heavily damaged infrastructure.
Preparedness for Future Storms
With storms predicted for this afternoon, NES is not slowing down. They have a full roster of crews and support staff on standby to respond quickly to any new outages. The utility will provide regular updates as crews continue making repairs throughout the day, ensuring transparency and keeping the community informed.
This effort highlights the critical role of customer service in crisis situations, where rapid response and clear communication are key to maintaining trust and safety.
