In the world of customer service, going above and beyond is often the mark of true dedication. For Humberto Ramirez, a restorative certified nursing assistant at Valley View Villa in Fort Morgan, this dedication recently earned him a prestigious regional award.
A Life-Saving Act of Service
When a visitor collapsed in the facility's parking lot, Ramirez didn't hesitate. He performed CPR until paramedics arrived, ultimately saving the individual's life. Months later, he showed his compassion again by visiting a hospitalized resident and advocating for her care, ensuring she felt safe and supported.
"Though she was non-verbal, she always lit up around Humberto," said Jana Underwood, executive director at Valley View Villa. "Somehow, he always knew exactly how to care for her, taking extra time to make her feel seen, valued and special."
Celebrating Excellence
Life Care Centers of America, which manages Valley View Villa, presented Ramirez with the Annual Whatever It Takes Champions Award for its Mountain States Division. This recognition is reserved for associates who go above and beyond in their daily care for residents and their families.
"Humberto doesn't simply come to work â he shows up for people," Underwood added. "His residents adore him, and his coworkers trust him completely."
Ramirez, who finds joy in the simple moments, shared, "The part I enjoy the most is waking up the residents and seeing their smiles as I walk in the room. It brightens up my morning."
The Whatever It Takes Program
Life Care's Whatever It Takes Champions program honors associates for exceptional service. Anyone can nominate an associate, and each month, Valley View Villa presents the WIT Champions award to a standout individual. Ramirez received the monthly award in April and December 2025, and his stories were then selected for the annual divisional honor.
