Celebrating Community Utilities

The City of Thomasville will celebrate Public Power Week, Public Natural Gas Week, and Customer Service Week from October 6-12. These events aim to honor the benefits of local utilities and highlight the dedicated staff providing essential services to the community.

Public Natural Gas Week

This week focuses on educating the community about the advantages of public natural gas utilities. It is an annual nationwide event recognizing one of the most valuable community assets: the publicly owned natural gas utility. With around 1,000 public natural gas utilities in the U.S., they significantly impact their communities by providing clean, affordable, and efficient natural gas.

Public Power Week

During this week, we celebrate the electric utility companies that serve the needs of about 40 million Americans. Each public power system is unique, but they all share the common goal of providing reliable and adequate electricity.

Customer Service Week Events

The City of Thomasville will also honor Customer Service Week by recognizing both staff and customers. Residents are invited to the Administration Building at 111 Victoria Place for the following events:

• Monday, October 7
  1-3 p.m.: “Meet and Greet” with Customer Service staff, including prizes and giveaways
  2-4 p.m.: Free slushies

• Tuesday, October 8 - Friday, October 11
  10 a.m. - 1 p.m.: “Meet and Greet” with Customer Service staff, including prizes and giveaways
