Columbia Utilities has announced that it will resume utility disconnections as temperatures increase, affecting customers with overdue balances. This move follows a community announcement urging customers to update their accounts to prevent service interruptions.
Customers are encouraged to bring their accounts current to avoid disruptions. Account information can be accessed at MyUtilityBill.CoMo.gov, where users can also sign up for eBilling.
City Follows Weather Guidelines for Disconnections
The city adheres to specific weather guidelines for disconnections. During winter, electric customers are not disconnected when the National Weather Service forecasts temperatures below 32 degrees for a 72-hour period. In summer, disconnections do not occur when forecasted temperatures rise above 95 degrees or the heat index exceeds 105 degrees during a similar period.
