City of Ames Extends Customer Service Hours

The City of Ames has announced an extension of its utilities customer service desk hours following requests from residents for more accessibility. Starting Monday, September 30, customer service representatives will be available from 7 a.m. for email, phone calls, and walk-in customers.

This initiative is part of a pilot program that will run until January 3, with the possibility of extension based on customer feedback. The customer service desk is located on the first floor of City Hall at 515 Clark Ave, with current operating hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

John Odenweller, the Ames Utility Accounts Supervisor, emphasized the importance of customer feedback, stating, "With that feedback in mind, we hope customers react positively to this small schedule modification. Opening an extra hour in the morning should provide some flexibility to customers with busy schedules."

The utilities offered by the city include water, sewer, and electric services. Customers are also encouraged to manage their utilities through the Ames Municipal Utilities website for starting, stopping, or transferring services.
