Cellcom's Bill Adjustments Spark Outrage: Customers Demand Fair Compensation After Cyber Outage
GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- A wave of dissatisfaction has hit Cellcom customers following the release of their latest phone bills. This comes after the company announced on May 30 it would be applying automatic adjustments to July bills as compensation for a prolonged service outage caused by a cyber incident nearly two months ago.
Former Cellcom customer Josh Rohland expressed his frustration, stating, "Considering that my service was out for 15 days, I think $43 off of a normal $180 bill? $43 is kind of a slap in the face." Rohland, who was hoping for at least a 50% discount on his two lines, decided to leave Cellcom after what he perceived as inadequate compensation and poor customer service.
Cellcom declined FOX 11's request for an interview but provided a statement via email, indicating that adjustments are being applied to July bills throughout the month. The company emphasized that the reimbursement focuses on the value of the impacted voice service, calculated with fairness and consistency. However, many customers on social media have reported either no adjustments or minimal credits of around $10 per line.
Royce Jahnke, a Cellcom customer for over 25 years, shared his disappointment, "I was expecting more of a good faith gesture from them of, ‘Here's something for your inconvenience.’" Despite receiving a discount, Jahnke and others continue to experience service issues, feeling that Cellcom has done the bare minimum for its loyal customers.
Cellcom assures that all service issues related to the outage have been resolved and encourages customers still facing problems to contact their customer care team. The company also highlighted its commitment to community engagement through upcoming celYOUbration events, aiming to thank customers for their loyalty during these challenging times.
