The Chautauqua County Visitors Bureau (CCVB) recently celebrated outstanding customer service within the local tourism industry by awarding three exceptional employees. These individuals were recognized for their dedication, knowledge, and ability to enhance visitor experiences in Chautauqua County.

Award Recipients and Their Stories

  • Marnie Ruckman, assistant manager at The White Inn in Fredonia, was praised for her unwavering professionalism and bright demeanor. Her employers highlighted her exceptional work ethic and attention to detail, which have been pivotal in the inn's smooth operation and recent renovation success.
  • Scott Mekus, festivals coordinator for the city of Dunkirk, was lauded for his passion and organizational skills. Vince DeJoy, Dunkirk's Director of Planning and Development, described Mekus as indispensable to the city's festival season, noting his ability to warmly welcome and inform visitors about local events.
  • Sara Edstrom, operations coordinator at the Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum in Jamestown, was celebrated for her deep knowledge and personalized guest interactions. Kate Rinko, the museum's retail coordinator, emphasized how Edstrom's insightful recommendations and engaging conversations leave a lasting impression on visitors.

Andrew Nixon, CCVB President and CEO, underscored the importance of these awards in fostering customer service excellence.
