AT&T's Targeted Job Cuts: 88 Customer Service Positions Eliminated in Sunrise

AT&T has announced the termination of 88 customer service positions in Sunrise, Florida, effective May 13. This decision was disclosed in a filing with the state, as reported on Friday.

The affected employees, located at 13450 W. Sunrise Blvd, began receiving surplus notification letters on Friday. According to the official filing under the Florida Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, these job eliminations are expected to be permanent. Employees have the opportunity to bump another employee from their position within 60 days of receiving their notification letters.

The impacted workforce includes 71 customer service associates, 14 service consultants, and 3 maintenance administrators. They are represented by the Communications Workers of America District 3, based in Atlanta.

A company spokesperson stated, “We’re undergoing targeted workforce reductions and focusing on growth areas as part of our regular operational review. Reducing our workforce is a difficult decision that we don’t take lightly. We make every effort to do this through attrition, voluntary departures, and reskilling efforts, but there are times like this when additional reductions are necessary.” Eligible employees will be offered severance pay and benefits.

This follows a previous announcement where AT&T eliminated 135 customer service positions at another location in Orange Park, Jacksonville, just a few months after a new contract was established with the CWA.
