Freelance Software Engineer

This role involves developing a robust Python-based solution to monitor and deliver real-time alerts for new product listings across five major Japanese and Korean second-hand marketplaces. The successful candidate will collaborate on a long-term personal project, focusing on building a system that retrieves and processes the latest product information within one second of listing. The position requires a strong technical background in web scraping, API integration, and real-time data processing to ensure immediate and reliable notifications for new listings. Deliverables

• Design and implement a Python program to monitor jp.mercari.com, bunjang.co.kr, paypayfleamarket.yahoo.co.jp, fril.jp, and auctions.yahoo.co.jp for new product listings.
• Develop efficient scraping or API-based solutions to capture listing data as soon as it becomes available.
• Integrate real-time alert functionality to notify the user within one second of a new listing.
• Ensure the system is scalable, reliable, and easy to maintain for long-term personal use.
• Provide clear documentation and technical support for ongoing improvements or troubleshooting.

Requirements

• Proven experience in Python development, particularly for web scraping and real-time data processing.
• Strong understanding of APIs, HTTP requests, and handling dynamic web content.
• Ability to reverse-engineer website structures and implement solutions for platforms with limited public APIs.
• Familiarity with Japanese and Korean e-commerce or second-hand marketplaces is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate on a personal project.
• Availability for ongoing support and potential follow-up work.
