Job Description

Posted on: September 27, 2025

Optum is a global organisation that delivers care, aided by technology, to help millions of people live healthier lives. The work you do with our team will directly improve health outcomes by connecting people with the care, pharmacy benefits, data, and resources they need to feel their best. Here, you will find a culture guided by diversity and inclusion, talented peers, comprehensive benefits, and career development opportunities. Come make an impact on the communities we serve as you help us advance health equity on a global scale. Join us to start Caring. Connecting. Growing together.

We’re excited to share that we are looking for a commercially focused Account Manager to join our Pharmacy and Medicines Commercial Team.

If you are someone with a passion for customer relationships, business development, and healthcare innovation—and you're based in the North of England—then this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

You will be joining a high-performing team that works across the Community Pharmacy space, helping to deliver impactful solutions that improve patient outcomes and drive commercial success.

Reporting into one of our Commercial Managers, you’ll benefit from a supportive onboarding process and ongoing development opportunities. This is a remote working position, with occasional team meet-ups in Leeds.

What you’ll do

Our Pharmacy and Medicines team is a fast-paced, collaborative environment where we focus on delivering value to our customers while having fun along the way!

You will be responsible for managing and growing a portfolio of pharmacy accounts, identifying new business opportunities, and ensuring customer satisfaction through proactive engagement and solution selling.

You’ll play a key role in retaining market share and driving revenue growth, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver results.

Other key responsibilities and accountabilities will include:

  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts and attend regular forecast reviews
  • Manage inbound enquiries, campaign leads, and referrals using our CRM system
  • Execute the full sales cycle from qualification to close, including demos, negotiations, and contracts
  • Proactively call prospects to generate interest and build relationships
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Provide high-quality documentation and governance throughout the sales process

Who you’ll be

You will have previous experience in account management or business development, ideally within technology, software, or healthcare sectors. You’ll be confident managing multiple priorities and building strong relationships with customers and colleagues.

You’ll be commercially minded, detail-oriented, and driven to exceed targets, with a natural ability to communicate and influence effectively.

Other skills and experience we are looking for you to demonstrate include:

  • Understanding of the sales lifecycle and CRM systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience managing customer expectations and delivering value
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret financial and customer data trends

Please note you must currently be eligible to work and remain indefinitely without any restrictions in the country to which you are making an application. Proof will be required to support your application.

We believe everyone–of every race, gender, sexuality, age, location and income–deserves the opportunity to live their healthiest life. Today, however, there are still far too many barriers to good health which are disproportionately experienced by people of color, historically marginalized groups and those with lower incomes. We are committed to mitigating our impact on the environment and enabling and delivering equitable care that addresses health disparities and improves health outcomes — an enterprise priority reflected in our mission.

Diversity creates a healthier atmosphere: UnitedHealth Group is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by law.
