Role Description The Live Chat Agent is a full-time, remote role responsible for providing timely, empathetic support to community members and visitors through online chat platforms and social media messaging. Each day, the Live Chat Agent responds to inquiries, shares information about programs and services, and guides individuals to appropriate resources within Neighborhood Christian Centers, Inc. The role involves monitoring multiple communication channels, documenting interactions, and escalating complex or urgent issues to appropriate staff. The Live Chat Agent collaborates with program teams to stay current on available services, maintains accurate records of conversations, and helps ensure that every online interaction reflects the organization’s mission and values.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong written communication and active listening skills, with the ability to respond clearly, professionally, and compassionately in real time.
- Candidates should possess customer service and client support skills, including managing multiple chats, resolving concerns, and maintaining a calm, respectful tone in challenging situations.
- Candidates should possess basic technical and digital literacy skills, including proficiency with web-based chat tools, social media platforms, and standard office software.
- Candidates should possess organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize inquiries, follow procedures, and maintain accurate records of conversations.
- Relevant qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent (associate or bachelor’s degree preferred), experience in customer service or community outreach, and interest in or familiarity with faith-based nonprofit work.
- Additional beneficial qualifications include fluency in more than one language, experience working with diverse communities, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting while collaborating effectively with a distributed team.
