Underwriting and Product Manager for Personal LinesAbout Us - We’re not your ordinary financial services organisation, we are a movement.

We’re a not-for-profit discretionary mutual, built for the member, by the member, and driven by purpose, not profit. Our small, passionate team came together because we’re fed up with the current financial system that has prioritised shareholder profits over people and we’re here to change that. We’re on a mission to reimagine financial services by creating ethical, inclusive products for communities that have been consistently overlooked, especially Islamic and ethical-driven communities seeking solutions that align with their values. This isn’t just a job. It’s a chance to be part of a movement, one that challenges the status quo and builds a fairer, more human approach to finance. As an early-stage not-for-profit what we offer is shared purpose, authentic collaboration, and the opportunity to shape something meaningful from the ground up. If you grow with us, we’ll grow with you.

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced Underwriter & Product Manager - Personal Lines to lead the development and day-to-day oversight of our personal lines offering with our first product being motor. You will be instrumental in pricing, underwriting rules, and product design, while collaborating closely with the actuaries, claims providers, compliance teams, and tech platform provider to ensure that our offerings are fair, ethical, and member-focused. This role is perfect for someone who is looking to break away from the traditional corporate model and contribute to building something with purpose.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and refinement of personal lines products (motor and with our next products being home and contents and small business) in line with our ethical and inclusive values
  • Create and maintain underwriting guidelines and rules, with strong risk management principles
  • Own pricing methodology and work closely with actuaries to refine pricing models
  • Oversee day-to-day underwriting referrals and assist in complex risk decisions
  • Collaborate with our actuary team, claims provider, technology, and customer experience teams to ensure a seamless end-to-end journey
  • Analyse data to inform product performance, risk appetite, and customer outcomes
  • Maintain strong compliance and ensure alignment with regulatory obligations and mutual principles
  • Be the subject matter expert for personal lines underwriting within a small, agile team

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of underwriting experience in personal lines (motor essential; home/contents ideal)
  • Experience managing the full product lifecycle, from idea to delivery
  • Strong commercial acumen with a focus on fairness, ethics, and inclusion
  • Passionate about creating real-world impact through financial services
  • Comfortable working autonomously in a startup environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, you’ll work across teams and with external partners
  • Values-driven, pragmatic, and excited to contribute to a bold mission

What We Offer

  • A fully remote and flexible role, we care about outcomes, not clock-ins
  • A genuine opportunity to leave a legacy, not just do a job
  • A chance to be part of a movement that’s changing financial services from the ground up
  • A collaborative and values-driven environment where your voice truly matters
  • As we are in the early stages of our journey, this opportunity includes a small paid component and calls for a degree of voluntary contribution. That said, we’re deeply committed to growing together, and as we scale, your role and rewards will grow with us.
