About the Company
We are a growing chemicals business supplying a broad portfolio of base chemicals to customers across multiple industrial sectors throughout the UK and Europe. With a strong focus on customer service, supply reliability, and long-term supplier partnerships, we are looking for a commercially driven Product Manager to join our UK Product Management team.
The Role
As Product Manager for Base Chemicals, you will take ownership of a portfolio of commodity and industrial chemical products, managing commercial performance, supplier relationships, pricing strategy, and customer growth opportunities.
This role is suited to someone with experience in product management, supplier/vendor management, account management, or technical sales within chemicals.
You will work closely with suppliers, customers, procurement, logistics, and sales teams to maximise profitability, ensure continuity of supply, and identify new market opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop a portfolio of base chemical products across UK and Ireland
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate pricing, supply agreements, and commercial terms
- Monitor market trends, pricing movements, and competitor activity within the chemicals sector
- Support sales growth through customer engagement and commercial strategy
- Work collaboratively with sales teams to identify new business opportunities and increase market share
- Analyse product profitability, sales performance, and margin development
- Coordinate with logistics and operations teams to ensure smooth product availability and delivery
- Develop and implement product strategies aligned with business objectives
- Support forecasting, stock planning, and supplier performance management
- Attend supplier and customer meetings, industry events, and trade exhibitions as required
Requirements
- Experience in product management, supplier management, or sales
- Background within the UK chemical market or related scientific sectors preferred
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage supplier and customer relationships effectively
- Analytical mindset with confidence interpreting sales and market data
- Self-motivated, comfortable working remotely and ability to travel throughout the UK
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM/ERP systems
- Full UK driving licence preferred
