Job Title: Customer Engagement Consultant (Public Sector)

Location: Remote with travel

Salary: Up to £40,000.00+ Generous Commission Scheme

Working days: Monday to Friday (37.5 hours a week)

As a Customer Engagement Consultant, you will develop and grow relationships with new and existing customers, acting as a trusted advisor across Babington’s apprenticeship and commercial training portfolio. Aligned to one of our core market verticals (Public Sector) you will drive revenue through a consultative, solution‑based sales approach.

Working closely with the Head of Customer Engagement and internal stakeholders, you will identify opportunities, build strong pipelines, and influence decision‑makers at all levels to deliver against ambitious growth targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and manage strong, long‑term customer relationships, positioning yourself as a trusted advisor
  • Retain and grow existing accounts through repeat business and expanded training solutions
  • Identify, engage and secure new business opportunities within your market vertical
  • Deliver consultative sales conversations that uncover customer needs and align solutions effectively
  • Consistently meet or exceed sales targets and KPIs
  • Represent Babington professionally at networking events, meetings and industry forums
  • Collaborate internally to ensure high‑quality customer experience and successful delivery

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 12 months’ experience in a sales, business development or account management role, ideally within apprenticeships, funded learning or a regulated training environment
  • Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets and KPIs
  • Experience managing customer accounts, with responsibility for retention, growth and customer satisfaction
  • Strong consultative, solution‑based sales capability, with experience engaging and influencing stakeholders at varying levels of seniority
  • Knowledge of the UK apprenticeship and funded learning landscape, including funding and compliance considerations
  • Ability to identify customer needs, challenges and opportunities and align these to appropriate training solutions
  • Strong relationship‑building, communication and negotiation skills
  • Confident analysing markets, identifying new business opportunities and building a sustainable sales pipeline
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities effectively
  • Competent in the use of CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications
