Client Success Manager (Technical / SaaS)

REMOTE, CST | $40 /hr | Contract

About the Role

We are hiring a Client Success Manager to own the post-sale relationship for our software customers. This is a technically fluent client success role, roughly 80% client success and 20% expansion. You will onboard new clients, drive adoption, protect renewals, and grow accounts organically. This is not a cold-calling role. The sales instinct matters because a strong client success partner recognizes when a client is ready to grow.

What You Will Do

Client Success (approximately 80%)

  • Own the post-sale relationship, including onboarding, product configuration walkthroughs, and technical demonstrations for new and existing clients
  • Drive product adoption and monitor account health and usage signals to get ahead of risk
  • Manage renewals and proactively reduce churn across a portfolio of accounts
  • Run regular check-ins and business reviews with client stakeholders, from technical users to executives
  • Troubleshoot and triage client issues, resolving what you can and escalating to support or engineering when needed
  • Act as the voice of the customer internally, relaying feedback and feature requests to product and engineering

Expansion (approximately 20%)

  • Identify and drive upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing accounts
  • Run discovery and needs assessments to connect client business problems to product capabilities
  • Develop proposals, quotes, and renewal terms, and negotiate and close expansion and renewal deals
  • Partner with the sales team on handoffs and account planning

Qualifications

  • 4 to 6 years of experience in technical or software (SaaS) sales, sales engineering, or customer success and account management for a software or technology product. A master's degree plus 2 to 4 years, or 8 or more years of relevant experience without a degree, will also be considered.
  • Solid understanding of how software products work, enough to explain features, integrations, and value to both technical and business audiences
  • Comfort with APIs, integrations, and workflow automation. Familiarity with AI or agentic automation is a plus.
  • Proven ability to own onboarding, adoption, and outcome delivery after the sale
  • Experience managing renewals, monitoring account health, and reducing churn
  • Track record of identifying and driving expansion inside existing accounts
  • Consultative, solution-oriented approach rather than transactional order-taking
  • CRM proficiency (Salesforce, HubSpot, Dynamics 365, or similar)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to make technical detail understandable and compelling
  • Highly organized and self-directed, able to manage a portfolio of accounts at once

Preferred

  • B2B SaaS background in a customer success or technical sales role
  • Experience owning retention and expansion metrics such as net revenue retention, renewal rate, or adoption and health scores
  • Familiarity with customer success platforms such as Gainsight, ChurnZero, or Vitally
  • Experience serving clients in construction, oil and gas, or pipeline
