Role Description The Tourist Information Assistant role is a part-time, remote position focused on supporting visitors before and during African Energy Week. In this role, the assistant responds to inquiries via email, chat, and phone, providing clear information on event schedules, venues, local attractions, transport options, and accommodation. The assistant maintains and updates digital information resources, such as FAQs and visitor guides, ensuring that content is accurate, accessible, and easy to navigate. Daily tasks include handling customer service requests, resolving basic issues, directing visitors to appropriate event contacts, and organizing information for efficient retrieval. The assistant also collaborates with the events and communications teams to identify common visitor needs and improve the overall information experience for attendees.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Communication and Customer Service skills to interact effectively with diverse visitors and stakeholders.
- Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills to interpret visitor inquiries, identify information gaps, and propose practical solutions.
- Candidates should possess experience or familiarity with Library Services and Information Management to organize, categorize, and maintain digital tourism and event resources.
- Candidates should possess competence in using office software, online communication tools, and basic CRM or helpdesk systems.
- Additional beneficial qualifications include prior experience in tourism, events, or hospitality, strong written English skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work independently in a remote, part-time setting.
