Transforming Customer Service: New Certification Program for Government Workers in the Virgin Islands

Elevating Customer Service in the Virgin Islands
The Virgin Islands Public Service Learning Institute (VIPSLI) is set to enhance customer service across the Territory through a groundbreaking partnership with the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC). This collaboration aims to create a specialized course tailored for public servants.
VIPSLI Director Connie George announced the development of a formal Customer Service Certification Programme slated for launch in 2025. She stated, "We are working very hard with CXC to develop our own authentic course in customer service where persons will become qualified as customer service specialists."
The course is designed not only to be recognized within the public service but to gain regional and potentially global recognition. George added, "So you will be able to gain certification that will be recognized across the world through VIPSLI."
The initiative is part of a broader effort to foster a transformative culture of customer service within the government, which George believes will permeate the entire Virgin Islands administration. This aligns with the governmentâs commitment to building a world-class public service. Earlier this year, the administration introduced the Public Service 101 course, led by VIPSLI, aimed at enhancing the skills of government workers across the Territory's four main islands.
VIPSLI continues to play a pivotal role in training and developing both new and existing public officers, ensuring they have the necessary skills to serve effectively.
