This cutting-edge technology is making waves in the industry by enabling realistic training scenarios for customer service representatives.

A Realistic Training Experience

The robot, programmed to act as an irate customer, challenged Mastis to calm it down. Here’s a glimpse of their interaction:

Mastis: "What can I help you with?"
Robot: "Are you kidding me? I shouldn’t have to wait that long. I need my phone fixed, and I want an explanation for this terrible experience."

Mastis: "I’m so sorry you had to wait so long."

The Technology Behind the Robot

Developed by Furhat Robotics and audEERING, this robot is referred to as a "social robot" that utilizes AI to detect vocal expressions and gauge human emotions. This allows the robot to understand sarcasm and irony, making interactions more lifelike and effective for training purposes.

Florian Eyben, founder of audEERING, stated, "We can understand sarcasm, irony, and we can understand that you’re actually maybe not in the best mood, and the way you say things matters here."

Louis Simeonidis from Furhat Robotics added, "If we’ve done our job right, you should be able to walk up and engage with the robot just like your friend."

Advanced Features

Remarkably, the robot can even be programmed to express extreme anger and curse, providing an authentic training ground for handling difficult customer interactions. This advanced capability ensures that trainees are well-prepared for real-world scenarios.
