Frustrated Tulsa Man Struggles to Activate His Social Security Debit Card: A Customer Service Nightmare

Overview
Carl Scott, a Tulsa resident, is facing immense frustration attempting to activate his Social Security disability benefits debit card. This card is crucial for his day-to-day expenses, including groceries and bills, following a workplace injury 25 years ago.
The Problem
After losing his original debit card, Scott had a new one expedited by Direct Express. However, upon receiving the card, he encountered significant difficulties trying to activate it. Despite multiple attempts, often spending two to six hours on hold, he was unable to connect with customer service representatives.

Attempts to Resolve
On December 4, Scott visited the Tulsa Social Security Office in hopes of getting assistance. He was assured that he would receive a call from Direct Express within two hours, but this did not happen. In a desperate move, Scott reached out to 2 News for help in contacting Direct Express to activate his card.

Media Outreach
2 News attempted to contact Direct Express on December 5, but after being put on hold, the calls went to voicemail without any follow-up. An email was also sent, and they are currently awaiting a response. In the meantime, Scott remains without access to his funds or clarity regarding the activation of his debit card.
