AT&T's Bold Move: Get Compensated for Outages and Wait Times! Find Out How!

AT&T's Initiative to Enhance Customer Service
AT&T has announced an innovative approach to improve its customer service by compensating customers for internet outages and extensive wait times on the phone.
Starting now, customers will receive a full-day bill credit for any fiber outage lasting over 20 minutes or a wireless outage exceeding one hour. Additionally, if a customer is on hold for more than five minutes, they will receive a $5 Visa gift card.
While the compensation may seem modest, it encourages customers to ensure AT&T fulfills its commitments. This initiative is similar to European regulations that mandate airlines to compensate passengers for delays, which has been shown to enhance service reliability.
Addressing Recent Outages
AT&T has faced multiple widespread outages in 2024, disrupting essential services like Zoom interviews, homework completion, and live sports broadcasts. In many rural areas, customers often have limited internet provider options, making reliable service imperative.
To combat these issues, AT&T is investing $750 million in customer service improvements over the last four years. The company’s chief marketing officer, Kellyn Smith Kenny, stated that outages have not increased in frequency recently.
Future Plans
Further, AT&T is set to launch a dedicated website where customers can check the status of outages, eliminating the need to rely on social media for updates.
