AML & Financial Crime Analyst

Location: Remote / Cyprus

About the Company

We are a rapidly growing financial technology company operating in the international payments sector. Our platform supports cross-border payments, foreign exchange, treasury operations, multi-currency collections, and global payout services for businesses worldwide.

As we continue to expand our banking, payment, and liquidity partner network, we are seeking an AML & Financial Crime Analyst to join our compliance function. This role sits at the centre of our relationships with banks, payment institutions, correspondent banking partners, Electronic Money Institutions (EMIs), and other regulated financial institutions.

This is a hands-on operational role for someone who enjoys solving complex compliance challenges, working directly with financial institutions, and maintaining high standards of financial crime risk management in a fast-growing environment.

The Role

The successful candidate will become the primary coordinator for AML and due diligence requests received from banking and payment partners. You will be responsible for gathering information from across the business, preparing detailed and well-supported responses, and ensuring all requests are completed accurately and within agreed timelines.

You will also support broader AML and financial crime operations, including customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence investigations, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring reviews, and ongoing risk assessments.

This position reports into the MLRO and wider compliance function. The successful candidate will be expected to exercise strong judgement, maintain excellent attention to detail, and escalate matters appropriately when required.

Key ResponsibilitiesBanking Partner Due Diligence & Relationship Support

You will act as the primary coordinator for AML and compliance-related requests from banks, correspondent banks, payment institutions, Electronic Money Institutions (EMIs), safeguarding providers, liquidity providers, and other financial partners.

Responsibilities include:

• Managing onboarding due diligence questionnaires and compliance reviews

• Responding to AML, KYC, governance, and financial crime enquiries

• Preparing compliance packs and supporting documentation

• Coordinating internally to gather information required by partners

• Ensuring all requests are tracked, prioritised, and completed within agreed timelines

• Escalating complex or high-risk matters to the MLRO when appropriate

Financial Crime Operations

You will support the day-to-day operation of the firm's AML and financial crime framework, ensuring controls are applied consistently and effectively.

Responsibilities include:

• Conducting customer risk assessments

• Performing Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) reviews

• Reviewing Source of Funds and Source of Wealth documentation

• Conducting sanctions, PEP, and adverse media screening

• Investigating transaction monitoring alerts

• Preparing case files and escalation summaries for suspicious activity reviews

Customer Due Diligence

You will play an important role in maintaining strong onboarding and ongoing monitoring standards across the customer base.

Responsibilities include:

• Conducting KYC and KYB reviews

• Assessing corporate ownership structures and Ultimate Beneficial Owners (UBOs)

• Supporting higher-risk customer onboarding reviews

• Applying risk ratings in line with internal methodologies

• Supporting ongoing monitoring and periodic customer reviews

Audit, Regulatory & Governance Support

You will help ensure the firm remains prepared for regulatory engagement, partner reviews, and independent audits.

Responsibilities include:

• Supporting internal and external audits

• Assisting with responses to regulatory enquiries

• Maintaining audit-ready records and documentation

• Tracking AML casework and management information

• Supporting remediation projects and compliance improvements

Documentation & Reporting

Strong documentation is critical to success in this role. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records and ensuring information is readily available when required.

Responsibilities include:

• Maintaining case files and investigation records

• Tracking partner requests and response deadlines

• Maintaining compliance logs and reporting metrics

• Producing clear written responses for banking and payment partners

• Ensuring records are organised, complete, and audit-ready at all times

Required Experience

• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in AML, KYC, Financial Crime, Compliance Operations, or Due Diligence

• Experience within fintech, payments, banking, Electronic Money Institutions (EMIs), Money Service Businesses (MSBs), correspondent banking, or digital asset businesses

• Strong understanding of AML/CFT frameworks and financial crime controls

• Experience conducting customer due diligence and enhanced due diligence reviews

• Experience reviewing sanctions screening and transaction monitoring alerts

• Strong written communication skills and attention to detail

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-moving environment

Preferred Qualifications

• CAMS qualification or working towards CAMS

• ICA qualification or equivalent compliance certification

• Experience supporting banking partner due diligence reviews

• Exposure to international payments, treasury operations, foreign exchange, correspondent banking, or digital asset compliance
