UJET Acquires Spiral to Supercharge AI Customer Service Tools
UJET, a San Francisco-based company specializing in AI-powered contact center technology, has made a strategic acquisition of Spiral, a Seattle startup focused on conversational analytics. While the financial terms remain undisclosed, this move signals a significant advancement in the customer service technology landscape.
Integration and Future Operations
Spiral will continue to serve its existing customer base as "Spiral by UJET", operating as a standalone offering while simultaneously integrating into UJET's comprehensive cloud contact center platform. This dual approach ensures continuity for current clients while expanding capabilities through UJET's infrastructure.
The Spiral Technology Advantage
Founded in 2018 by former Amazon engineers Elena Zhizhimontova and Andrew DiLosa, Spiral has developed cutting-edge AI technology that automatically detects and categorizes customer issues across multiple communication channels including:
- Phone calls
- Chat conversations
- Email communications
- Customer surveys
- Social media interactions
The platform is specifically designed to help businesses uncover critical product and support problems that might otherwise go unnoticed. Current Spiral customers include notable companies like Owlet, Whitepages, and Turo.
Leadership Perspective
Vasili Triant, UJET CEO, emphasized the strategic importance of this acquisition: "UJET's acquisition of Spiral will provide businesses with a unified view of all customer conversations for more proactive, personalized service."
Funding and Team Integration
Spiral had previously secured nearly $7 million in funding from prominent investors including:
- Trilogy Equity Partners
- Bezos Expeditions
- Techstars
- Alumni Ventures Group
- Ensemble
- Alexa Fund
The startup maintained a lean team of less than 10 employees, all of whom will transition to UJET. Elena Zhizhimontova will assume the role of Vice President of Applied AI at UJET, bringing her expertise to the expanded organization.
Competitive Landscape
Spiral operates in the rapidly growing category of startups that apply artificial intelligence to customer feedback analysis, positioning UJET to compete more effectively in the evolving customer service technology market.
